Easy to install on my 1972 El Camino
Easy to install in my 1972 El Camino. Here is how I did it: I installed the Cadillac STS window regulator over the weekend. 1. I installed the El Camino tracks and the flocked rubber channel guides. 2. I cut off a tab of the back of the window channel that is normally to guide the window down the rear window channel. 3. I installed the window and then the window regulator. 4. I positioned the front regulator guide 7 inches from the back of the El Camino front window track. 5. I mounted the bottom of the track and clamped the front window regulator to the window. 6. I moved the window up with the regulator until the window was all the way up with the regulator still clamped. 7. This located the top of the new front regulator guide. It required a bracket to pick up two regulator ... Easy to install in my 1972 El Camino. Here is how I did it: I installed the Cadillac STS window regulator over the weekend. 1. I installed the El Camino tracks and the flocked rubber channel guides. 2. I cut off a tab of the back of the window channel that is normally to guide the window down the rear window channel. 3. I installed the window and then the window regulator. 4. I positioned the front regulator guide 7 inches from the back of the El Camino front window track. 5. I mounted the bottom of the track and clamped the front window regulator to the window. 6. I moved the window up with the regulator until the window was all the way up with the regulator still clamped. 7. This located the top of the new front regulator guide. It required a bracket to pick up two regulator mounting points. I fabricated a flat bracket. The bracket surface was 1.13 inch lower than the inside door skin. 8. Using 1 inch conduit, I welded a washer to the bottom of a 1,13 inch length. Then I welded the tube to the door inside skin. 9. I drilled a 4 inch hole in the bottom rear of the door inside skin. 10. After, I lowered the window and clamped the window using the new regulator window clamp. 11. I mounted the bottom rear regulator to the door skin. 12. I raised the window to it's top position and built and welded in another mount which was a little less than an inch. 13. I tie wrapped the control cables to the bracket supporting the regulator. It works perfect.
