Quality of foam sealing gasket for non-venting cap in question.
The foam gasket for this gas cap was either mis-formed or suspectible to gasoline fumes. It only lasted a week on my 2010 Ford Ranger before it caused a dashboard code to illuminate regarding a loose or missing gas cap. Closed fuel system so any leaks will cause substandard engine performance and gas mileage.

this is a nice locking fuel cap you can choose to lock it or not , it is lightweight and seals so the check engine light will not come on on newer vehicles
