housing does not fit forester base, but if you take it apart, the inner filter does. quite pricy for just the inner filter, but it fixed the problem and looking back at the ad, I see it was never advertised as fitting my forester base.

Needed Maintenance
In tank fuel filter needs changed every 60k mine was at 128k and still had the OG pump and filter. I replaced pump with Walbro 255 and this oem Subaru filter. Took me about 2 hours, hardest part is finagling the assembly in and out and dealing with stubborn fuel line “quick” disconnect. All in all very happy I did this as she runs noticeably better throughout rpm range and also noticed less stumbling at idle.
