Decent bearing but the housing is weak
I had purchased one of these in late fall, installed it and but didn't run the A/C until about a month ago. (April 2016) It failed on the first day I actually needed the A/C. I cannot say for certain but my compressor also failed at that time so the tensioner's failure may be the old compressor's fault but either way when I removed it from my vehicle I noticed the tensioner spring hanging out the side of a cracked housing. The cast metal is very thin and snaps easily causing the spring to fail. The bearing seems to be in good shape and so is the plastic pulley so I salvaged them and added them to my spare parts box in the truck. All that being said it's really not any worse quality than the factory part; If anything the pulley and bearing might be better quality. I just think there's a ...
