    ARP STUD KIT FOR 2.5 SOHC SUBARU

    Great product, easy torque procedure compared to factory Subaru head bolts. OnI do have two complaints though. The threaded part of the studs should be protected from the harsh handling by many shipping companies. One of my studs got the threads nicked, which caused serious problems when torquing. I had to return the kit for a replacement. Second kit was ok. I recommend ARP put those plastic sock type thread protectors on these kits. Also, the washers that come with the kit do NOT fit all the areas of the head on certain year SOHC engines. I literally hat to grind them on a grinding wheel to get them to seat properly in the head. If you don't do this, you will probably destroy your heads. Not cool. These stud kits are EXPENSIVE. They should fit better. By the way, FYI, my car was a 2007 ...

    great product!!

    so as stated in the above or below comment there were fitment issues. i bought these seeing that review and needing to see for myself. well upon assembly there is indeed fitment issues, but please dont be discouraged from buying these without reading this first! the engine mine were being installed in was a 2002 Forester 2.5 SOHC, and im here to say the way of installing them so you dont grind the washers is place the washers in the respective spots in the cylinder heads BEFORE placing the cylinder over the head studs. they work and fit perfectly!!! no grinding needed!! if you attempt to put the washers on over the studs while the head is on the block youll have issues. 10/10 will definitely buy again for my next engine build!

    Good solution

    This product resolves a tricky assembly with the Subaru EJ25 phase II engines. Tightening the head bolts using Subaru multi-step procedure is sound but often comes with earlier unplanned head gasket failure. This race designed stud system provided a very repeatable long assembly life, and is simpler to install.
