I was very happy it was the right EGR valve for my 79 Trans am. I had the same symptoms as my old one when I first put it in. I removed it and realized from seating in storage for so long it was stuck in the open position. I figured out how to move the diaphragm and stroked it for a few minutes with out damage it and put it back in the car and it worked. It might be a tip to give your clients if they have any problems.I used pliers and press the middle of the valve to stroke it and it worked.
